At age 20, Reuben joined listed developer Peter Kurts (now FKP) as an investment consultant where he specialised in investor presentations and project marketing.
A few years later, Reuben became involved in the stockmarket as a lecturer on Technical Analysis in Auckland NZ and also Sydney. At the time he was a member of the ATAA (Australian Technical Analysis Association) and was also a full time trader on the ASX and NZX.

Reuben then decided to start a business, and an investment magazine sounded like a good idea. Because of his background in property, shares and general investment experience, a magazine that focused on wealth creation seemed to be a niche that had not been filled in Australia.
Wealth Creator Magazine kicked off in 2001 as a bi-monthly business and investment publication sold throughout Australia and New Zealand through 5,000 newsagents. Reuben gained valuable marketing and media experience by working across all areas of the business including editor, publisher, sales, marketing and publicity. Today, Wealth Creator remains one of the leading business/investment titles in Australia and enjoys a readership of around 60,000 per issue.
In November 2003, Wealth Creator Publishing was recognised by the ABSP (Australian Business and Specialist Publishers Association) Bell Awards as the Highly Commended Small Publisher of the Year. Reuben was also appointed to the board of the ABSP, which represents over 700 consumer titles in Australia.
Through the magazine, Reuben met and interviewed some of the most successful entrepreneurs and business leaders in the world including:

Wealth Creator TV Show
A 10 part series that profiled leading entrepreneurs and industry experts. The series aired nationally on Foxtel and Austar throughout 2005. As well as being the executive producer of the show, Reuben attained sponsorship funding and hosted each episode. The show was aired on Foxtel/Austar. Sponsors included Doncaster BMW, Dodo Internet, Onyx Finance, Trading Edge, Lamborghini Australia and Moet Hennesy.
Wealth Creator Radio Show
This weekly radio show was run by small business expert Gary Janson. It aired each week on Sydney radio station 2RDJ FM featuring live interviews with many of the entrepreneurs who appeared in the magazine. The show was then digitally recorded and made available on the website to download.
WealthNet Club
In 2003, Wealth Club Media was launched as a subsidary of Wealth Creator which ran parallel to the magazine business. Through this company a national business networking club called WealthNet Club started in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Within 12 months, it became the largest club of its kind in Australia, with over 7,000 people attending.
Entrepreneurs Course
Wealth Club Media also created the Entrepreneurs Course – a two day course that taught the keys to entrepreneurship. The course featured multiple speakers, each experts in areas that relate to entrepreneurship including accounting, legals, IP, franchising, marketing, capital raising and psychology.
Wealth Creator Books
As a natural parallel to the magazine, WealthCreatorBooks.com.au was established as a joint venture with Exa Business Technology.
Australia’s Wealth Creators Book
This book was compiled by Jonathan Jackson and Reuben Buchanan from the raw interview transcriptions of the first two years of Wealth Creator magazine. The book edited by Jonathan Jackson and published by Wright Books and is available in bookstores throughout Australia.

HLF (Health, Lifestyle & Fitness) magazine
In 2003, the Wealth Creator Group created HLF Magazine aimed at men and women who were interested in general fitness and lifestyle issues. Editor Jonathan Jackson drew on his many years of experience at Blitz Publications to create a balanced publication that was well received by its readers.

Profile
Reuben has done interviews and been profiled by other publications including BT Weekly, Ad News, Publish Magazine and Leadership magazine. Ive also featured on a CPA DVD titled Lets Start a Business, spoken at leadership conferences, RMIT University Entrepreneurship Division, Sydney University (guest speaker) and Australian Institute of Management (entrepreneurship panel).
Exit
In early 2005, the Wealth Creator Group was sold to WCM Capital Pty Ltd. Reuben continued to run the business as CEO before stepping down in August 2005 to pursue other opportunities.
Soon after he took up a presenting role with Channel 7 on a show called Melbourne Weekender, a 13 part series that aired Saturday’s at 5.30pm. Reuben hosted the money segment which focused on business, investment and finance issues that relate to Melbourne. Each show was watched by over 200,000 Victorian’s, making it one of the most popular programs on the weekend.
The 2006 season of Melbourne Weekender commenced on the 5th August at 5.30pm on Seven with the series ending in November.

In 2006, Reuben joined Integral Capital Group as a corporate advisory specialising in capital raising and advising clients on becoming investor ready.

Reuben is the co-founder and co-owner of Wholesale Investor, a magazine and website which connects private companies who are seeking capital or trade sale, with private investors or acquirers.
